If you’re looking into stairlift installation, you probably have a good few questions. How does it actually work? How long will it take? Will it make a mess of your staircase? That’s completely normal, and it’s exactly what we’re here to answer.
We’ve been fitting stairlifts across Worcestershire for over 25 years, as a family-run business, and we know every home and every customer is a little different. Whatever your staircase looks like, we’ll talk you through your options and take care of the installation from start to finish.
We cover Droitwich, Worcester, Kidderminster, Evesham, Dudley, Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Pershore and the surrounding areas.
Why people choose us for installation
Fitting a stairlift is about more than the equipment itself. It’s about knowing the job’s been done properly, by people who’ll still be there afterwards if you need them.
That’s the difference a family-run business makes. We’re not a call centre passing you between departments. You’ll speak to the same friendly team throughout, from your first enquiry to your annual service. Our engineers have fitted stairlifts in homes across Worcestershire for over 25 years, so whether your staircase is wide and straight or narrow with an awkward bend, they’ll have seen something similar before.
Our stairlift installation process
We’ve kept our process simple, because getting a stairlift shouldn’t feel complicated.
1. Free home survey One of our team will visit your home to look at your staircase and talk through what you need. From there, we’ll recommend the right stairlift for your property, along with a free, no-obligation quotation.
2. Choosing the right stairlift No two staircases are quite the same, so we’ll explain your options clearly, whether that’s a straight stairlift or a curved stairlift, and answer any questions before you decide.
3. Professional installation Once you’re ready to go ahead, we’ll book in a date that suits you. Our engineers will fit your stairlift safely and test it thoroughly before you use it.
4. Demonstration and safety checks We’ll show you exactly how your stairlift works and run through its features, so you feel confident using it from day one. We’ll also carry out final checks to make sure everything’s running as it should.
5. Ongoing support Need servicing or repairs further down the line? We’re only ever a phone call away.
What actually happens on the day?
It’s often more straightforward than people expect. In most cases, the rail is fitted directly to the stair treads rather than the wall, so there’s very little disruption to your home.
On the day, our engineers will:
- Fit the stairlift rail
- Secure the stairlift itself
- Run safety tests
- Check everything’s working correctly
- Show you how to use it
- Answer any last questions
Once that’s done, your stairlift is ready to use straight away.
How long does installation take?
This depends on the type of stairlift you need.
A straight stairlift is usually the quicker job, since the staircase has no bends or landings to work around. Installation is often finished within a few hours.
A curved stairlift needs a bespoke rail made to match your exact staircase. Once that rail’s been manufactured, fitting it typically takes about a day.
We’ll give you a proper timescale during your home survey, once we’ve seen your staircase.
Will it damage my staircase?
This is one of the questions we get asked most, and it’s a fair one. The answer is no. Stairlifts are fixed to the treads rather than the wall, so there’s rarely any need for structural work. The rail is held in place with brackets, which keeps disruption to a minimum. If a stairlift is ever removed later on, any repairs needed to the staircase are usually minor.
Can a stairlift go on my staircase?
Most staircases can take a stairlift, including ones with landings or narrower stairs. We install on:
- Straight staircases
- Curved staircases
- Staircases with landings
- Narrow staircases
Even homes with an unusual layout are rarely a problem. Curved stairlifts, in particular, are made to measure: the rail is manufactured to follow the exact shape of your stairs, bends and all. We’ll assess yours properly during the home survey and recommend what will work best.
New or refurbished: which is right for you?
We install both. A new stairlift comes with the latest features and a manufacturer’s warranty. A refurbished stairlift is a more affordable option, and every one we supply is fully inspected and tested before it goes in, so you can trust it just as much.
Getting ready for your installation
There’s very little for you to do beforehand. It helps if you can:
- Clear anything sitting on or near the staircase
- Make sure there’s clear access into your home
- Let us know in advance about any access needs
Our engineers handle everything else on the day.
Looking after your stairlift afterwards
Once your stairlift is fitted, regular servicing keeps it running safely and reliably for years to come. We also offer repairs and ongoing advice, so if anything ever feels off, just get in touch and we’ll sort it.
